Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 18, 2026
Moneycapade (the app for iPhone and Android, and the website moneycapade.app) is made by Montgomery Appworks LLC, an Oklahoma limited liability company ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app and our website use, where it goes, and your choices.
The short version
- You don't need an account. Your money information is stored on your phone, not on our servers.
- Photos you scan (paystubs, receipts, bills) are read on your phone. We don't upload them.
- No ads, no analytics or tracking tools, and we never sell or share your personal information.
- We never ask for your Social Security number and we never pull your credit report.
- Subscriptions are handled by Apple or Google. We never see your card number.
Information stored on your phone
What you enter in the app stays in the app's storage on your device. That includes your pay and paycheck details (including deductions and garnishments you enter), bills, budget, spending entries, debts, balances, interest rates, savings goals, net-worth entries, credit scores you type in, lessons and quiz progress, streaks, rewards, mascot choices and settings.
We can't see this information. It doesn't leave your phone unless you choose to send it somewhere (see "Things you choose to send" below). Your phone's own backup (such as iCloud or Google backup) may include app data, depending on your device settings; that is between you and Apple or Google.
Camera, photos and files
If you use paystub scan or receipt and bill scan, the app asks for camera or photo access. The text in the photo is read by software that runs on your phone. The photo is not uploaded to us or anyone else, and the app saves only the numbers and words you confirm.
If you import a file from your bank (CSV, OFX or QFX), the file is read on your phone and is not uploaded.
Notifications and app lock
Payday nudges, bill reminders and the free-trial reminder are scheduled on your phone. You can turn them off in the app or in your phone's settings. If you turn on app lock, Face ID, fingerprint or your passcode is checked by your phone's operating system. We never receive biometric data.
Subscriptions and payments
Moneycapade Premium is sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google processes your payment. We never receive your card number or billing address.
We use RevenueCat to check whether your subscription or free trial is active. RevenueCat receives a random app user ID (not your name or email), your purchase and subscription records from Apple or Google, and basic technical information needed to provide that service, such as app version, device type, country and IP address. RevenueCat processes this only to provide its service to us.
Things you choose to send
- Emails the app writes for you (refund requests, due-date change requests, bill scripts) open in your own email app. You decide whether to send them. They go from your email account straight to the company; we don't receive a copy.
- Share cards (like your debt-free countdown) are shared through your phone's share menu, only when you tap share. Dollar amounts are hidden unless you turn them on.
- Links to outside websites (for example the IRS, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, or a company's cancellation page) open in your browser. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
- Exports and backups you create are saved where you choose.
- Support emails you send us. We use what you write only to help you, and we delete it on request.
What we don't do
We don't sell or rent personal information, share it for advertising, or track you across other companies' apps or websites. The app contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting tools. We don't collect your location, contacts, or browsing history.
Our website and the waitlist
Our website, moneycapade.app, uses no cookies, ads or analytics.
If you join the Moneycapade waitlist on our website, we store your email address, whether you asked to join the beta, the date and time you signed up along with the consent wording you saw, the page or link you signed up from, and your country (estimated by our host, Cloudflare). We don't store your IP address. To stop spam, a scrambled one-way code made from your IP address is kept for up to one day and then deleted.
We use your email only to tell you about Moneycapade's launch and beta. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or email us and we'll delete your entry. We don't share the list with anyone. It is stored with Cloudflare, which hosts our website and keeps standard security logs.
Features that aren't available yet
Optional sign-in and cloud backup, partner sync, shared goals between phones, and connecting bank accounts (through a provider such as Plaid) are not part of the current app. If we add any of them, they'll be optional, and we'll update this policy and tell you in the app before any of your information leaves your phone.
Deleting your information
- In the app: Me → Settings → Privacy & lock → Delete everything. This erases the app's data on your phone. Uninstalling the app also removes it.
- Waitlist: use the unsubscribe link or email us to delete your entry.
- Anything else (like support emails): email [email protected] and we'll delete it within 30 days.
Deleting the app or its data does not cancel a subscription. Cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Apple, Google and RevenueCat keep purchase records under their own policies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example California, other U.S. states, or the EU/UK), you may have the right to know what personal information we have, to get a copy, to correct or delete it, and to object to certain uses. We don't sell or "share" personal information as California law defines those terms. Email us to make a request and we'll respond within the time the law requires. We won't treat you differently for using your rights.
Children
Moneycapade is meant for adults managing their own money. It is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
Security
Information sent to our website or service providers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Because your money information stays on your phone, keeping your phone locked is the best protection; you can also turn on app lock. No system is perfectly secure.
Where information is processed
We are based in the United States. Our service providers (Cloudflare, RevenueCat, Apple and Google) may process information in the U.S. and other countries.
Changes
We'll post changes here with a new effective date, and tell you in the app before any significant change takes effect.
